Bodies are vehicles
by Sam Douglass, Sydney, Australia
University medical admissions officer, Aged 27
I think our bodies are just vehicles to get us around whilst we're living. When we die, our essence, what makes us who we are, goes someplace else - I don't know where, but I don't believe that it dies. I'm fond of the idea of spirits going on to inhabit nature - earth, water, tree spirits etc. A deceased body, when buried - although dead and seemingly of no further use- is useful material which nourishes the soil and promotes new growth. I definitely want to be buried - there's no way I'd be cremated. I have a fear of fire and burning, and even though I'll be dead, I want nothing to do with cremation! A memorial is not important - just bury me under a tree somewhere.
