Disposal

KurtS
by Warren, NSW
Railway, Aged 43

I joined the family and friends of Kurt. At 19 his life was drained from his body at the hands of his fellow man. On the morning of his funeral I like most of my fellow mourners entered our church with hatred and bitterness in my heart. We were all asking why such a beautiful man was lost for no reason other than someone was unable to control his rage.

An hour or so later we followed Kurt out into the sun for the last time.
As his coffin moved past the hatred and bitterness that was consuming me lifted.

Today I know it was the faith and strength from Kurt's family which saved me from my own rage. They were saying. As Kurt was a peaceful loving man, (which his family projected onto us again and again,) for us to act out our rage will dishonor Kurt.
